Our Story
After several trips to Kenya, it was apparent that these students needed MORE than money. They needed on-the-ground HELP. They needed tutoring, pencils, toilet paper, a solid roof over their heads. They needed support. Students who attend school in slum communities around the world attend school in dark rooms with broken desks and overworked teachers. Additionally, these students are HUNGRY. When children attend school hungry, they are drowsy, lack the ability to retain new material, and lack the motivation to learn. Some students in these communities have experienced generational poverty, an incredibly difficult cycle to break.
We had the idea to develop a VOCATIONAL training program for students in high school, preparing them for a career the day they graduate high school. Career and Academic Society International is financially supporting and training students to become MEDICAL ASSISTANTS in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. The medical field provides incredible opportunities for income potential and career growth for our students.
